aquarium fish tanks 2 aquarium fish tanks

Away from the headlines of many fish lose their fish too soon. For many caregivers the first time their first aquarium fish tank, along with emotion and excitement quickly becomes horror when his new collection of fish not taken the first week.

Your aquarium should provide ideal conditions for fish to survive. Water conditions are very sensitive and that these fish require optimal conditions for health. Usually there is very little warning and if you make a mistake, you knows, maybe too late.

There are 3 common mistakes I see most beginners when setting up your aquarium.

1. Go too small
Most people think I want to start slowly and get a small tank. The problem is that with a small volume of water is virtually no margin of error and even experienced aquarium keepers can compete with small tanks. It is simply too difficult to maintain optimum water conditions. With tanks larger and larger volumes of water, it is much easier to monitor conditions. To take no risk, try to get at least a 20 gallon tank – Especially if this is your first aquarium. This will also give you enough space to maintain good collection of fish.

Let the stabilizing 2.Not water
Aquarium Kits are new in the world of aquarium fish. These tanks are filled and shipped as complete plug and play "aquariums. Because of this many owners of new vessels in the error that I just connect, add water and add fish immediately.

No matter where you live, your tap water is full of potentially harmful chemicals that can kill new fish in the first 24 hours. Your tank should be stabilized first. It is necessary to treat water to neutralize harmful chemicals and allow the exhaust gases. You have to let the tank run for a day or two and test the water before adding your first fish.

3. Inadequate filtration
The filter is the heart of your aquarium. Constantly circulating water to remove particles of waste which may contaminate water. Because the filter collects all the dirt must be cleaned and replaced frequently to ensure your reservation maintains a healthy environment for your fish.

The greater the volume of water in your tank, plus a filtering system that you will need. As a golden rule of your filter needs to move throughout the water at least 3 times per hour. This should give you a good indication of what size to get, but if you are unsure always go a size up.

Avoiding these three mistakes You can set up your first aquarium aquarium successfully. Maintaining a healthy aquarium can be challenging, but ultimately the prizes are as punishment. Make sure you know what you're before doing so and making the investment in an aquarium book may well be worth the money.

Gobioides broussonetti Dragon Fish

$5.99

Dragon Fish, or Violet Gobies, are odd fish that are native to coastal brackish marine estuaries of the western Atlantic coast from the Carolinas to Brazil. In captivity, they seem to thrive the best in brackish water. They are characterized by a long, silver-violet eel-like body, with dorsal and ventral fins that extend all the way to the tail. They have tiny eyes and a large mouth in which their sharp teeth can be clearly seen. Despite their predatory appearance, Dragon Fish are not big predators. They have poor eyesight, and do little hunting. Dragon Fish often feed by scooping mouthfuls of sand or mud, swallowing edible items, and spitting out the rest. Their natural diet consists mainly of diatoms, worms, and small crustaceans. In the aquarium, they will accept live and frozen blackworms, bloodworms, brine shrimp, ghost shrimp, krill, as well as sinking pellets and occasionally, tiny guppies. Due to their poor eyesight, Dragon Fish are often slow to find food, and do not get enough to eat before other fish consume all the food. Be sure that your Dragon Fish gets plenty to eat, or it may starve to death. Dragon Fish should be kept singly unless a large group can be kept in a tank of about 100 gallons or more. In small tanks and small groups, one larger Dragon Fish will dominate the others and some may be bullied or not get enough food. Dragon Fish can be kept with most peaceful fish that are too large to swallow.

Shopping for the lights in your aquarium can be a party to laugh at everything, even if only for configuration. Fish do not need lights, unless they are maintained in a dark room all the time, but I want to be able to see and show your friends, right? Finding a good lighting can actually unify your tank, your plants and furniture looking their best tank, and of course, show the true beauty of your fish. For simplicity, we'll just talk only tank here – have been planted tanks their own lighting needs.

Lights for aquariums, as for any other purpose, come in two main varieties (with some rarer variants and more expensive).

Lights function as their standard light bulb filament. It is cheaper to buy in advance, but we need more electricity to operate over time, and you also have to replace more often. In addition, they heat the tank, which may require adjustments in the balance of your pH and will undoubtedly promote algae growth. So, as you guessed, I do not use incandescent bulbs for my tank.

What I use and recommend, is fluorescent lights. Lamps and a little more expensive than incandescent bulbs but are much cooler so it does not heat the tank as much, and do better use of electricity, in order not to add to your electric bill more expensive. Fluorescent tubes also do not require replacement as often, perhaps a once a year to a year and a half, when the light begins to be low.

Here's something useful that I love my brother to spend a little more for a decent game, which uses "electronic ballasts" – It is low cost electronic ballast that makes the annoying "aquarium Buzz" that most of the accessories fluorescent at low prices over time! It's worth the money if all you want to hear is the gentle hum of your pumps and filters.

Now for the fun part – Fluorescent bulbs come in a variety of colors. Plain White above can be very hard and can look like your tank "washed" so personally, I inclined to favor tinted bulbs. It may take some experimentation to find the colors to show your favorites on the best fish, but in general, warm colors such as yellow or pink will make the tank look more vibrant colors as cold as blue, green or purple.

Do not forget to buy a timer to turn lights automatically at night. You must also manually turn off the lights whenever you do not like the tank – most often the lights are on, more that promote algae growth in the tank.

Danio rerio Glo-Fish

$7.99

The fascinating Glo-Fish has been genetically altered to give off a bright neon glow. The genes of this Zebra Danio have been altered with the genes of a certain anemone that features the illuminescence, and that is how the Glo-Fish came about! Glo-Fish were originally altered to a bright pink color, but now green, yellow, orange and blue fish are also common. Please contact the livestock department when placing your order if you have a color preference. The Glo-Fish is just as hardy as a regular Zebra Danio and also features the same bluish striping. They are an active fish that will hang out around mid-water or upper water level. They are great for community tanks. Feed them a varied diet of flake, small pellet, and occasional small-sized frozen food. The glowing coloration of the Glo-Fish will not fade or change – it is within their genetic structure and will actually be passed on to their offspring should they spawn. To see them “glow” at their best, keep a strong light on them for most of the day and then replace it with a black-light at night.

Toxotes jaculatrix Archer Fish – Small

$12.99

Archer Fish are brackish water fish that inhabit coastal waters in their native range. They are silver fish with large eyes located close to the mouth, and a series of large black blotches on the upper half of the body. The belly is lighter, and juveniles usually have yellow areas between the dark markings. The fins are tinged with yellow, and the dorsal and ventral fins have black tips. Archerfish are famed for their ability to “shoot” insects down by spitting little jets of water. They travel in “shooting parties”, and will all shoot for the same prey, and rush to be the first to get it when it falls. Archer fish also capture prey by leaping out of the water and grabbing it from its perch on an overhanging leaf or stick. Though they can reach a maximum size of about 12 inches, they rarely exceed 10 inches in captivity. They can be kept in community tanks with most other large brackish fish. Archerfish will accept most flake and pellet food and should be treated to some live crickets 1 or 2 times a week.
